I am with you 100%. Fed up doesn’t begin to describe how disgusted I am that we have been hijacked into being volunteer beta testers of a totally defective editor, as if our time has no value.
WordPress want this topic restricted to technical issues. Fair enough. The new editor is a fail on all counts. Buggy, glitchy, eats posts, literally the blue screen of death to serious bloggers and writers.
Many developers and technicians have given meticulously detailed breakdowns of the flaws, but WordPress doesn’t care.

And that is why it is so important. And my thanks to you for putting in the time and effort to set it up.
I’m not tossing in the towel yet. Mercifully I don’t “feel” things so can participate in these confrontations as a rather detached observer. And that gives a certain stayhing power. Like a rock in the middle of a river. LOL

If WordPress had the support of the majority of members they wouldn’t need to spam them when the system takes us directly to their deficient editor by default.
That the spam persists is as accurate a measure of member discontent as the thousands of signatories on imperialtwilight’s petition.
The level of member dissatisfaction is directly proportional to the volume published each day and our need for the professional features the Classic editor provides.
The occasional blogger will not be as severely impacted by the default editor’s defects as a news site.
When the downgrades and workarounds add literally hours to a person’s workday, it ‘s time to seek better platforms. They are available.
I sincerely wish everyone well with the appropriately labeled blue screen of death, but I haven’t the time to waste on it.

Joomla and Drupal offer free websites which can be designed to serve any purpose.
If you are a non-profit organization you can get a free website and social network on Bluehost.
If you are an activist at risk because of the nature of your work there are many organizations that offer free, secure space for websites and groups. They use WordPress open source with the classic editor and BuddyPress.

I chose Inventati. Their services synch with my project. There’s no spy apps, no gathering or storing user data, no ads, privacy – at no cost – fantastic!
