WordPress.com Premium

I would like to start two blogs under one account. I’d like both of these to have custom domains. I’m thinking about purchasing WordPress.com Premium for its extra features and its free custom domain. I assume if I want an additional custom then it’d be extra. But what about all the premium features. Do they apply to my account or to only one blog? In other words, if I have more than one blog under my account, may I use all the premium features for both blogs for $99/year? Thanks.

    I have same question.

Each upgrade is for one blog and is good for one year. An account can have multiple blogs, but each of them would need to be upgraded and paid for individually.

Thank you. Can you also answer my question about a sponsored blog? I understand that I write my own original content, yada, yada, and that I am free to put non-image links to my sponsor(s). But if my sponsor(s) would like one of their video advertisements to run at the bottom of my article, and I pay for a business premium $299/yr plan, is that acceptable?

    @annemartinfletcher
Is this what you have paid for?

Unfortunately I’ve not had any experience with that upgrade. Perhaps another volunteer has more expertise and will answer. But just in case, I’ve modlooked this topic for a staff response. If you subscribe (up on the right sidebar), then you’ll be notified when someone in authority responds.

Not yet — but it IS what I plan to buy once I understand it better. My sponsor wants my proposal tomorrow, so customer service picked an inconvenient time (for me) to be offline. Thanks for the referral.

Also, how would I register the new domain name with the upgrade purchase?

I believe you can register a domain name the same way you do if you purchased the Premium upgrade. It’s part of what you get when you sign up, and you select a domain when your register / pay.

My advice is to wait for a staff response before you buy anything. I think what you said about adverts may not be in accordance with Terms of Service here. I just don’t know!

But if my sponsor(s) would like one of their video advertisements to run at the bottom of my article, and I pay for a business premium $299/yr plan, is that acceptable?

The modlook tag on this thread will alert someone from staff to give you a definite answer.

I don’t think you will be able to sell your own ads or have sponsored posts until you move to the VIP program – and the VIP starts at something over $ 20,000 / year

That’s the answer I expected. Thank you.

    to 1Tess,
I’ll wait to hear from them on how to register the new domain name. I did not see a place to enter the new domain name on the first purchase screen. Thank you for your help.

1tess: Thanks for your reply. Just to make sure I understand, one account with two blogs would require two $99 premium upgrades needing to be renewed each year. Since each blog would have its own premium upgrade, a custom domain name would be included for each blog, since that’s part of the upgrade. The only thing extra to buy for each blog might be the private domain name registration. Is this correct? Thanks again.

That is correct, the upgrade is per blog, so you would need to purchase a premium upgrade for each (which also comes with a domain for each).

    staff-blorbo,

There are two users in this thread, each with different but related questions about upgrades. You and I both answered the OP’s question, but what about the issue that the second user asked about placing her sponsored videos?

We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you can read more about here:

    WordAds

Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com, including sponsored videos, is not allowed. For full details, please see:

    Advertising

    http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this link to learn about the differences:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested:

staff-blorbo , one more question I need clarified. If I purchase the business premium, does that include the internet domain name registration for the new .com? I found the page on how to let WordPress register my new domain for $18, but I did not see anything on the business purchase page that asked me to specify my new domain name. Will registering the new domain be an extra $18 ($26 for private)?

Yes, all of the plans include one free domain registration. You can add the domain via Store -> Domains in your blog’s Dashboard.
