WordPress.com Premium said it would cost $79, then changed to $99?
-
When I clicked on the list of plans, it showed that Premium was on sale for $79. After I input my billing information, the receipt said I owed $99. This is false advertising, and I want it for the price that was originally promised.

Hi there,
Please note that since your already had the domain mapping, we gave it to you for the discounted price of $79 for THIS year. Next year it will be $99.
The reason you saw $99 was because you signed up for the trial instead of purchasing it. But no worries, once your trial is over and you get charged, let me know (in this thread) and I can provide you a refund of $20 to reduce it from $99 to $79.
However, if you want to just purchase it out right now, I can remove the trial so that you can just purchase it for $79 now.
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Hi Grace;
Thanks for responding. I actually wanted to just purchase it outright, but it didn’t give me that option. If you can switch that out for me, that would be great. Thanks so much!

Hi there,
Thanks for the confirmation. I have emailed you a manual payment for $79. Please submit that and reply back here. Once you do, I will add Premium to your account for the year and remove the Free Trial. You will not be charged for that trial.

Grace;
There has been no change in my account history, can you please make the adjustments?

You said you’d cancel the Domain Mapping, but it’s still there.. and now the Premium Subscription says $129 per year??? What’s going on here??
-
Howdy!
Grace is out at the moment, so wanted to jump in. :) She added the Premium plan to your account on Tuesday, February 24th after receiving your manual payment. You can view it in your upgrades here:

Your manual payment for $79 appears in your billing history here:

I see you have ilverarch.ca mapped right now, but it’s included in your Premium plan. Let me know if you need that mapping removed so you map or purchase another domain and I’m happy to do that for you.
The price for Premium plan is now displaying for 129 Canadian Dollars because on Wednesday, February 25 we did price changes for non-United State Dollar currencies to better reflect current exchange rates and foreign taxes. Our transaction systems don’t handle those automatically, so we adjust the prices periodically. This has no affect on your current Premium plan since we added it for you before the price change, but will take affect on your next renewal in 2016.

According to my billing history – as well as my credit card statement, I was charged twice for the premium subscription. I have not been refunded for anything as of yet – I would appreciate you doing so ASAP..
Also, as quoted by the purchase page, and confirmed by Grace in the thread above (which I have taken a screenshot of, in case it happens to “disappear”), the price next year should be $99. There is no disclaimer that states anything about USD conversion, nor is there one saying rates may change without notice. Therefore, you CANNOT change the rate I agreed upon when making my purchase. Not only is that false advertisement, legally speaking, it’s called breach of contract.
My experience with WordPress so far has not been a good one. Things around here are very unorganized and unclear.. perhaps you should think about revising your help section and ensuring all of your staff are on the same page.

It looks like some errors occurred in the manual setup of your Premium plan that caused an error in your Store when you recently worked on the domain mapping. I’ve sent you an email so we discuss the details specific to your account. We’ll of course be happy to refund any payments we’ve received.
For clarity on the pricing for premium plan. As of February 25th, 2015, the Premium plan costs $99 (USD) , but in Canadian Dollars it is $125 (CAD) to account for foreign taxes we incur and estimated exchange rates. Unless changes occur to raise/lower the price, the price to renew for another year will be $125 (CAD). Because not all pages on WordPress.com have the location information required to do transactions in foreign currencies, only the default USD pricing is displayed on much of WordPress.com.
Your current product is a license good from February 24, 2015 (the purchase date) through February 24, 2016 (a year later) which you’ve already paid for and we are not charging you anything additionally.
If you wish to renew that and receive another annual license in 2016, that renewal will be subject to the current price at that time, but no charges are being adding to your current product. Pricing changes like this are not a breach of contract.
I’m sorry if you’ve not enjoyed your experience at WordPress.com. In the email I’ve sent you we can work out the specifics of your billing history and I’m happy to provide full refunds for all purchases. Once that’s settled, we also have tools available where you can move your content to another hosting service if you prefer:
Or we’d be happy to serve you going forward as well. :)

Actually $99 USD is only $123 CAD, so that is the correct price for next year. If what you say about the exchange rates is true, then why did it not apply to my Domain Mapping purchase? I was told it was $79 for the Premium Package – exchanges rates were never mentioned so I expect an adjustment on this.
As for what I’ve been charged for so far:
– Charged $13 CAD for Domain Mapping on Feb 23
– Charged $102.19 CAD for Premium Package on Feb 24Here’s what should be refunded to me:
– Refund $13 CAD for cancelling Domain Mapping (not done)
– Refund $23.19 CAD for over-charging on Premium Package (not done)For now I will stay with WordPress but will review before it is renewed.

The non-USD prices are not calculated for exchange rates dynamically. Our store is just not programmed that way yet. We rarely change these prices, so when we do, we attempt to compensate for any potential shifts in foreign taxes we will incur as well exchanges rates now and in the future. So yes, today $99 doesn’t completely match up to $125 CAD in exchange rate only today, but that does not account for taxes or future changes to the exchange rate. $125 is the CAD price for the foreseeable future.
At the time you started your Premium free trial, February 24, the price was $99 in both USD and CAD. However you had already purchased a Domain Mapping for $13 — we often provide a discounted rate for Premium plan for the those that have already purchased an upgrade (like Domain Mapping) since Premium include most upgrades. But once the price was raised the $79 price you had previous seen was no longer available. In an effort to make it available to you, we created a manual payment form for $79.
The manual payment we provided was in $79 USD — our manual payment system can only work in USD at the moment. Using a Canadian credit card, your bank would’ve changed this into CAD based on their exchange rate system.
The Premium plan refund I’ve provided will also be going through as USD — your bank should exchange this into CAD using the same system. If you feel their exchange does not properly refund your purchase I can provide you with additional WordPress.com credits to help make up for that difference but cannot provide cash refunds beyond the purchases made.
I processed your refunds personally today and they appear in your billing history:
Refunds often take up to a week to appear in bank accounts, but some users have reported receiving them sooner. If the refunds do not appear on your credit card statement after 5 business days, please let me know and we’ll work it out the card processors.
