WordPress.com recovery options e.g. white screen of death?
-
Hi
So, what happens if I crash a site e.g. with php error getting the white screen of death? I presume wordpress.com would step up, but didn’t find info on this. I know of recovery options for self-hosted.
Thanks,

Hi there,
For what site is this?
White screen errors are usually caused by a corrupted plugin or theme, and on a self-hosted WordPress installation you’d need to log in via FTP at your hosting provider and manually delete or re-install the plugin or theme causing the problem. You can find more information here:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Common_WordPress_Errors
For more help, please post in the support forums on WordPress.org, as we’re not able to help with self-hosted installations here.
If you’re speaking of https://educate.london/, that site is not self-hosted, but hosted on the WordPress.com Business Plan. All admins on that site has access to live chat support via our support contact form:
https://wordpress.com/help/contact
Please use that option to contact us if you need help with white screen errors or anything else on that site, as our ability to help via the forums is limited.
That site is currently loading fine for me, though, and I don’t see any errors for that site.

Thanks for reply.
There’s no problem with the site at the moment, I’m wondering about recovery options generally (for wordpress.com hosted specifically) and thought others would have similar questions so forum’ed.
(I didn’t actually write “The blog I need help with is educate.london.”- that’s the forum software).I’ll ask directly via support links…

Contacting us via live chat is the best way to get help with this, yes, as we can remove or re-install plugins using our internal tools, and even restore your site to a previous version if needed. The users in the forum don’t have access to the tools needed to do that, however.
