WordPress.com Tag, How Does It Rank?
-
Hi,
I notice my blog post sometime rank high in tag and sometime it’s doesn’t rank high at all. My question is ranking in wordpress.com tag page are base on time or base on how popular is your blog?? This really puzzle me:) -
If you mean where posts appear on the global tag pages, they appear in chronological order, with the most recent first.

Thanks, yes I mean global tag pages. Now it’s make sense!
But how about the top post. It’s seem like it’s repeat twice, the blog post is display in the top and also in the reverse chronological order below. Hmm, are they do this manually to select the top post?

I have no idea how the top post is chosen. Understandably, WP does not share that information.

The going rumour is the Featured Blog is the one with the most posts in that category, but nobody knows for sure.

I think it also has to do with page views. I have one post that got a ton (like 13k+ in one day) that made it to the top of the tag, but that’s the only post that I made in that category. That post also had a lot of incoming links, etc.
So I bet there’s a few different things or a little algorithm that they run to determine it.

WEIRD! The Failblog, consistently one of the top blogs, is not the featured blog for FAIL.
