WordPress.com to Medium

  I am trying to move my WordPress.com archive to Medium, but I cannot install the Medium.com plugin which will let me do so. So I made a new WP install on a self-hosted site I have to hold the archive and install the Medium plugin to handle the migration. Only problem is when I upload my WordPress.com .xml file to my self-hosted site, when the file is finished uploading, I get a mostly blank wp-admin page which just displays ‘Import File’ title at top and all the sidebar and menu options. What am I doing wrong? I tried three different versions of the export file just to see… Same results, and tried in two different self-hosted installs…
