WordPress.com to Self Hosted – import failed

  Hello!

  I am attempting to move my wordpress.com blog to self-hosted, and no matter how hard I try, the import fails to bring in any posts or pages, only tags and categories. I’ve searched and searched for solutions, but have come up empty. I tried a plugin that someone suggested somewhere, but that didn’t bring in any media.

  I am hoping someone can help me here, or point me in the direction of someone that can.

  Hi there,

  You have a relatively large media library so my guess is that your export file is too large to be successfully downloaded in one piece.

  Instead, try breaking it up into a few files by exporting a range of posts/pages at a time, and then importing each of these files in turn. You could probably do it by exporting in perhaps three chunks, set by date ranges (perhaps do a couple months each?).
