WordPress.com to WordPress.org
-
How do I switch my website from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. I currently run http://www.chelseahellenphotograph.me using WordPress.com. I cannot do everything I want to do with WordPress.com, however I do not know too much about WordPress.org but would like to use 3rd party themes. Is there a way to do this without making the switch? If not, how do I make the switch?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Currently, it isn’t possible to upload custom themes at WordPress.com (only on self-hosted WordPress.org blogs). You can move your blog to WordPress.org following the instructions here:

It looks like you currently have a domain registered at WordPress.com. Since you’re moving to a self-hosted site, you can transfer your domain to another registrar (the same one where you set-up hosting ideally) through the instructions here:
Alternatively, you can leave your domain registered at WordPress.com and just change the name servers as described here:
Please note, in that instance, your domain is still registered at WordPress.com. You will need to maintain the registration by renewing each year in order for it to work correctly.
Does that help to answer your question? Please let me know if you run into any trouble along the way!
