WordPress.com to WordPress.org How do I still gain wordpress.com blog followers?

Hi there, I am about to bring over my wordpress.com blog to wordpress.org –

I have been gaining a lot of my traffic from fellow wordpress.com bloggers, who are able to follow my blog, and WordPress ‘Like’ my posts.

I am wondering though… once I shift to wordpress.org, will I still gain followers and likes form wordpress.com bloggers? – I am hoping there is a way to still gain wordpress.com exposure, followers and likes, as well as maintain my existing followers.

    If Yes, how?

If No, is there a way around this?

~ Note: I am only new to this so apologies if this answer seems idiot-proof :S Appreciate any suggestions, thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you install Jetpack on your WordPress.ORG install and activate it and you provide Staff with both the .wordpress.com URL and the new URL for the WordPress.org install Staff can then transfer your existing subscribers.

How do I still gain wordpress.com blog followers?

The same way you did prior to the move and that’s by commenting meaningfully on blogs with similar content.

Thanks to coming to the rescue again timethief :)

    Just one thing:

The same way you did prior to the move and that’s by commenting meaningfully on blogs with similar content.

This is a definite! I Agree! – Though my blog was being viewed, followed and liked from pretty much day go by fellow wordpress.com bloggers – this is before I had even made my first comment or advertised my blog.. So I guessed I was getting exposure from WordPress.com – somehow :S

Was wondering if there was a way to continue to get that same exposure. (this may be a bit hard to answer, seeing though I don’t know where the exposure is coming from)

Let me be clear in this WordPress.com and WordPress.or
g are sepearate. WordPress.org provides free software and peer support forums and that’s it. When you move your content into a self hosted WordPress.org blog that blog is not part of the WordPress.com community. The posts do not appear here in the search in the Reader or anywhere.

Okay, that is all I Wanted to know!

It’s a shame the two couldn’t be incorporated for plugin and theme purposes – then we would be one big happy family. Though I am sure they have their reasons for not doing so.

    Thanks again.

I’ll note that if you merely want your site to be ” trulyawkward.com” you should consider domain mapping:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
You would still be hosted here on wp.com and remain part of the community.

Of course if you want to run adverts or monetize your site, use plugins, or change the php of your site, then you’d need to go to wp.org.

Really just wanted a new theme that will suit my content better, which is similar to that of pinterest. As I am posting short quotes daily, rather then articles.

You might look at Blocco. It’s a premium theme but it could work for you.

Oh, there is also this one:
    http://pinboarddemo.wordpress.com/
(also a premium theme, but less expensive)
