To modify the themes on your self-hosted site, you’ll need to log into your custom login page. You can access this page by adding /wp-login.php to the end of your site’s URL.
If you’re logging in via http://wordpress.com/, you will be brought to your old WordPress.com Dashboard.

when i added /wp-login.php to my url which is mrturnitup.com it redirected me to a login page to wordpress.com not a custom page

Your domain name is still pointed here.
You’ll need to change your nameservers through your domain registrar to point to your new hosting provider.
