WordPress.com to WordPress.org Transfer
-
Hi, I tried to transfer from WordPress.com to WordPress.org and it’s mostly been okay. However, I noticed that I couldn’t get my followers transferred over to my self-hosted site. Also, people are somehow still commenting on my WordPress.com blog but it’s not appearing in my WordPress.org site. Actually, it doesn’t seem like comments work at all in the self-hosted site. I tried figuring it out myself with no luck :/ lol
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,
To transfer your followers, install the Jetpack plugin on your WordPress.org site and follow these instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/ -
I tried to do that, but when I get to the step where it says to “Switch Site”, I can’t find my Jetpack site under the list of options.

Hi there,
Looks like there are a few different issues here, so I’m going to try to address each one separately for you:
I can’t find my Jetpack site under the list of options.
Right now, we still have a temporary address listed for your Jetpack site, instead of your domain thegeekoutgirl.com. Can you please go to the Jetpack section of that site’s dashboard, disconnect it from WordPress.com at the bottom of the screen, and then reconnect it?
That will refresh the Jetpack site on our end so it’s correctly listed as thegeekoutgirl.com here.
I tried to transfer from WordPress.com to WordPress.org and it’s mostly been okay. However, I noticed that I couldn’t get my followers transferred over to my self-hosted site.
Once you refresh the Jetpack site with the steps above, please let me know and I can transfer your followers over for you.
Once those followers are transferred over, your email followers will continue to receive email updates, and your WordPress.com followers will continue to see your new posts in the Reader (but they won’t automatically receive email updates). If your WordPress.com followers would like to receive email updates, as well, they can subscribe via email on your new blog.
Also, people are somehow still commenting on my WordPress.com blog but it’s not appearing in my WordPress.org site.
Your WordPress.com site is still public, so posts on that WordPress.com blog are still appearing in the WordPress.com Reader (and your WordPress.com followers, for example, can still view and comment on those posts in the Reader rather than viewing the posts on your new WordPress.org site).
To change that, you can set your WordPress.com site to private in the site’s General Settings. Under “Site Visibility” there, you can select “I would like my site to be private, visible only to users I choose” and save those settings to make the WordPress.com site private. That way, people won’t be able to see the posts on that old site and they’ll have to go to your new self-hosted site to view and comment on your posts.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
