WordPress.com VERY Slow

    I have no problems with any other sites but wordpress.com is insanely slow for me on multiple computers with multiple browsers. I think it might be because I’m in Italy…Any thoughts?

    There haven’t been any widespread reports of slow connections to WordPress.com in your area. Try re-booting your router if that’s an option for you. If possible, try checking WordPress.com from a completely separate Internet connection to rule out an issue with your local network or Internet service provider.

    Good point, you’re probably right, I’ll try another ISP when i get a chance.

    I’ve been experiencing the same slowness for quite some time now, and have even gotten complaints from readers about the site being slow and unresponsive. Doesn’t matter if I’m logged into the admin panel or not. I’ve tried it in FF, IE, Chrome, on different computers using different internet connections — and the slowness persists. Sometimes (like now as I’m typing this and looking at the browser tab with my blog) the page still shows loading, loading, loading… even after it’s completed rendering the page.

    Again, this has been ongoing for quite some time. Tested and confirmed across multiple browsers using multiple connections, also confirmed by outside people. What gives, WordPress??

    Cyphog, Are you trying from Africa?
    I suspect that it is the ISP here but I haven’t been able to try another one yet.

    If you have AdBlock running please try disabling it.
    If you are not using the https:// secure log in please try using it.

    No, here in the states. I’ve seen load issues using several different IP’s, OS’s, browsers… the whole gambit. And I’ve also gotten complaints from readers (and recent interviewees) who are viewing the site on different IP’s. “Not loading.” “Takes forever.” “Is something wrong with your site?”

    It doesn’t always happen, and sometimes resolves on refresh, but it is definitely been consistent and persistent for awhile now and I’m more surprised when it *doesn’t* happen now than when it does. Which shouldn’t be the case, obviously.

    As I said, multiple browsers, Mac and PC, different IPs, other users reporting similar issues over a period of time. It’s not a user error or browser configuration issue. And while it’s not consistent, it is persistent.

    @cyphog – your blog loaded instantly here (gorgeous photos!!) – Firefox 13 on a Mac. Comcast, speed test is hitting ~24Mbps.
