WordPress.com Volunteer Translators Survey address bug
-
Had an email from Polldaddy/Andres dela Serna about WordPress.com gifts. But the address entry page is buggy, it seems like some bright spark made the State field a required field, forgetting that there’s a whole PLANET out there which doesn’t live in a US state. I cannot leave the field empty, I cannot put something like N/A… it always comes back with ‘This question is mandatory’
Seriously, how about some user testing next time before sending out a mass email like that?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I received the same email. I wrote “Islas Baleares” into the field.
Very simple. ;)Cheers.

Ok, thanks for the workaround but still, that form needs fixing. It’s ridiculous, a community as global as WP and someone sends out a form that only allows US style addresses.

Hey Akerbeltz!
Please accept my apologies about the trouble you experienced. I didn’t realize at once that the “State” field was required, but in no way did I put it there to imply that everyone I invited to the poll lived in the United States. :) There are other countries, like mine (the Philippines), that have states and provinces, and that field allowed me to input the province where I live in.
I now recognize that this can inconvenience users who don’t live in a state or province, so I’ve contacted someone from the Polldaddy team who might be able to help me rectify this. For now, I’ve removed the City and State fields to allow you to type in your complete address in the Address fields provided. Please let me know if this remains a problem. Cheers!

Thanks peeps. Sorry about snapping there, it was just a combination of expecting better from WP and coming across this precise problem too often in my work and private life.
Happy New Year to y’ all! -
