Hi there, I’m not sure what you mean by “just switch over.” In order to use the standalone WP org software, you’ll first need to find a web hosting service like Pressable, BlueHost, DreamHost, GoDaddy and the like and then install the WP software on it. Running a standalone WP install does take more technical chops than here on WordPressdotcom.

Here’s more on the differences between WP.org and WordPressdotcom (where we are): https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Since you have an upgrade plan I strongly suggest that you directly contact Support through the link in your dashboard at https://wordpress.com/help/contact for assistance in cancelling your plan so that you can make the switch with fewer issues.

    Best wishes.

    Hi there,

Can you tell me a bit more about what you want to do with your site? Maybe we’ll be able to help you here on WordPress.com.

If you definitely want to go to a self-hosted installation instead, you can leave your domain registered here and point it to a different hosting provider instead:

    Move Your Domain

In that case we can cancel your Personal Plan and give you a partial refund, leaving only the domain in your account. You will need to leave the domain with us for the time being, though. Cancelled domains are not released immediately, so if you cancel the domain you won’t be able to use it somewhere else, and you must own a domain for 60 days before you can transfer it to a different registrar.
