WordPress.com vs WordPress.org and Mailchimp

    Hi:

I created my WordPress sire in order to host, among other things, a mailing list through Mailchimp. Now it seems that I can’t do this unless I’m on a WordPress.org account (I’m on .com).

Is this the case? I can’t see Mailchimp among the list of widgets and I’ve been trying for a while now to get it sorted.

If it does only run on .org, how do I transfer across the domain I’ve accidentally paid for?

Grateful for any help or advice.

    JT

    Hello there, Jack!

You’re right–some of the functionality available to MailChimp users is only available through a WordPress.org install. However, that doesn’t mean you have to start over. There are still a variety of options for using MailChimp with WordPress.com. For this, I’ll refer you to this excellent guide for adding a MailChimp sign-up form to your WordPress.com site.

Ultimately, it depends on what exactly you’re wanting to be able to do with your mailing list. If you want extreme customizability with MailChimp, a WordPress.org installation is probably the way to go.
