Thank you for your support request:
I was confused between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. I wanted to create my own website with your software not set up a blog. I also registered a Domain Name “WhatToHaveForBreakfast.com”. I want to build an actual website with this domain, not just a blog. Can I please get a refund on my order? My Transaction ID is: 36F79543CB360742K. Thank you,
Joe Petri

You don’t need to cancel the domain – all you need to do is point the name servers to your host where you have your WordPress.ORG install. Quicker than waiting for your domain to be released back into the wild.
-
PS – you would still want to cancel the Domain Mapping, but the registration can still stay here if you want.
-
How long does it normally take for it to be “Released into the wild”? How much is domain registration a year? I normally buy my domain sites through GoDaddy and they are 11.99 a year.
Please refund my Domain Mapping. Thanks for your help.

Cancelend domains become the property of our registrar partner and there is no guarantee that they will ever be returned to the public pool.
Typically, if they do choose to return it to the public pool, it can take about 5 days. If they choose to hold it for auction, that can take about 90 days (assuming there are no bids). Also, there is no guarantee that someone else won’t pick it up before you.
To request a refund, please contact us via http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
Search for anything, like “cancel domain” and just continue to the bottom and select the No radio button to be taken to a contact form.

Registration here is $ 5– a year if my memory is correct. Looks like you have already saved yourself some money.
-
Already contacted that link and no reply. I want to keep the domain and cancel just the mapping. How do I do that?
-
joeypetri, mapping is part of the domain registration. Consider rather that registration is a $5 add-on to the $12 mapping, so registration is actually $17 total.
We’re a bit behind, but I’m trying to address all of the refund cases today, so hang in there.

You need to work with the link and the messages you have sent – the Support Staff is a bit backed up and so they are a bit slower than normal right now while they try and work off the backlog and flog the slaves a bit harder.
I will flag this for their attention also.

I’m really confused now. One person is a member, the other is a happiness engineer. Who works for wordpress and what am I being refunded, am I keeping the domain name and how much a year is just the domain name? Sorry but this is way more confusing and frustrating than I thought which is one of the main reasons why I have been so hesitant about using wordpress.
