WordPress.com vs.org
-
Hello, yesterday we bought the domain and the premium plan through WordPress.com when later we find out we actually need it through the .org site. I would like this to be switched but am not sure my next steps to do this.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Staff can do this at a price https://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/ but as your site has no content it would be easier to request a refund via “Manage purchases” https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/ and then set up a new WordPress.org site elsewhere. https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Or a better plan maybe a partial refund only so you can retain the domain URL and use this process Move Your Domain to Another Host
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/Note: It is only possible to transfer a domain 60 days after the registration date. This 60 day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be waived. More info here. https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/text-2012-02-25-en
re: Cancelling domains
It is important to know that cancelled domains are not released by the registrar immediately. Also note that here’s no guarantee you’ll be able to use a domain again as it may be sold to someone else. Therefore you should cancel a domain, if and only if, you are sure you do not wish to use it again.I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Also subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. @timethief of course you’re right and I’m wrong. Cancelling a domain name would be a bad idea if you wish to continue elsewhere. @gatorgrillmaster, ignore me. I guess I shouldn’t multi-task along with the company accounts.
PS: @timethief before I log off for the evening, I wonder what is happening behind the scenes??
Please note that Guided Transfers are not available for purchase until May 15, 2017. Already purchased transfers and support periods will continue. We’re working on a few things behind the scenes!

@themagicrobot
I’m not always right and your responses are good ones that I do read. In fact it’s obvious to me from reading your replies that you are a long time wordpress user who has both wordpress.COM experience and wordpress.ORG experience.SHRUG. I have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes re: guided transfers. Staff can respond to that when they work their way forward to assist gatorgrillmaster in this thread.
-
@timethief (off topic) regarding volunteers stealing your responses. I’ve seen literally hundreds over the last couple of years. At least I’m not guilty of that. But I’m against a fixed guide on how volunteers answer questions. Then they might as well bring back an enhanced Supportbot. (And I read “working on a few things” to apply to more than just Guided transfers). Maybe I’m wrong but the boundaries between .com and .org continue to blur such as noticing that many .com themes have a .org download link now.
I’ll get my coat. -
@themagicrobot
One would assume that any staff wannbe would be clear on copyright and attribution but such is not always the case.But I’m against a fixed guide on how volunteers answer questions.
Too late as we already have this https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-com-volunteers/ and there’s more to come. See here and read the entire thread which I have tagged to have off topic conversation removed from.

@gatorgrillmaster
Please accept my apology for the off topic conversation and know that it will make no difference at all to the time frame involved in getting Staff assistance.Staff will work their way forward through threads that are tagged for their help prior to this one being tagged. As would be expected, they serve the threads with the earliest datestamps first and work their way forward to the most recent ones.

@ timethief. Read and digested.
@gatorgrillmaster. Apologies for interrupting your thread and I hope you make a success of your future WordPress.org site.

I’m happy to help with a refund. However, I’m not seeing any purchases associated with the WordPress.com user account you are posting from. Could you have made the purchase with a different user account?
-
Hello staff-ozmodiar , I actually have already went through the refund process on Friday and should expect the final transaction this week. This was for the domain: napombeatbox.com
Thank you!
