WordPress/Namecheap Domain Mapping; Page Still Showing Blank

Roughly 36 hours ago I purchased a domain name from Namecheap (pinkfrostydemo.com) and mapped it to my WordPress (pinkfrostydemo.wordpress.com). I followed the instructions provided here (https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/) to make Namecheap point to the WordPress domain servers, but for some reason, on my computer, as well as through proxy servers, the website is still showing as blank. It shows up fine on my iPhone, and other computers on other networks are sometimes able to see it, but I can’t get a page to show. I’ve contacted Namecheap and everything is fine on that end. I understand it can take a while for DNS settings to populate, but I’m beginning to get concerned.

  • hi,
I checked your site ” pinkfrostydemo.com” on my desktop and iPhone. Your site loads fine. You just have a hello world post. Since you say your site is loading fine on your iPhone, I am guessing there may be an issue with your computer.
Could you try clearing(flushing) your computer’s DNS cache and try again. http://www.tech-faq.com/how-to-flush-dns.html

Thanks for the quick reply, simplysaru. I tried clearing the DNS cache following the instructions in that link, and double-checking everything. Terminal is giving me an error that says ‘command not found,’ which I imagine is a separate issue. Thoughts?

  • Are you on a mac or linux machine or a windows machine? You may want to Google on how to flush the cache for you version of Operating system and use that specific command.

I’m on Mac running Yosemite. I followed the instructions here (http://osxdaily.com/2014/11/20/flush-dns-cache-mac-os-x/), but am getting a thing that says ‘command not found’ when I try to run the line in Terminal. Interestingly, if my phone is running through my WiFi network, the website won’t load on it; but if it’s on 4G, the website loads. So in other words it seems pinkfrostydemo.com won’t load on this WiFi network, but it loads otherwise.

  • This command cleared the DNS for me.

    sudo discoveryutil udnsflushcaches.

If you are still having issues change the DNS settings to Google DNS or Open DNS to see if it helps.

you will be the last one to see the changes, just the way it works, also the caching issue might be upstream. the internet can take up to 72 hours for name server changes to fully propagate. Your site access can be erratic during that time
