  I’m trying to register with wordpress.org. It told me I’d get an email with my PW, and its been at least 2 hrs since I filled out the form. I have received no email response.

  I used the same username as my wordpress.com account. They say .org and .com are two separate things, so that has nothing to do with it, I imagine.

  obviously Id post this in the .org site, but since I can’t even log in, I had to post it here.

  Advice/Words of wisdom?

  ah – so it looks like I don’t even need to create an account on .org to move my website from the .com site to my new webhost..
  can anybody confirm?

  WordPress.ORG is not a host – they are the keepers of the WordPress software

  You do not need to register with WordPress.ORG at all to move a site from WordPress.COM to your own host – you can have your own WordPress.ORG install and no need to register at all, the only reason to register at WordPress.ORG is if you need to ask a question in the help forum or you want to help answer questions in the help forum.

  I can confirm. Creating a WordPress.org account just gives you the ability to post in the .org support forums.

  If you’ve already installed WordPress on your webhost, you should be able to visit http://yourdomainname.com/wp-admin to log in to your self-hosted WordPress blog. Once you’re logged into your blog, you can migrate your content over.

  Im trying to access the .org forums for help, but Im needing to login there in order to do so.
  Funny thing is, I can log in to /wp-admin for my .org site, but cant post in the .org forums.
  My .com and .org(admin) accounts both have the same email and usernames.

  Please help!

  I cannot type or paste titles to my new post therefore I cannot post anything with a title and also I have just lost most of my published categories >> disappeared . please help, thanks

  Don’t hijack threads. Do a search of the forum for answers and if you don’t find it, start a new thread. Your issue has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

  nollieheel, you have to register at WP.org for a login. A new login. It has nothing to do with the login to your blog OR the login to WP.com.
