First off, just in case you did not know, wordpress.ORG does not “host” blogs. That is where the software is supported and distributed.

If you already have a domain name, you need to hire a web host, install the wordpress.ORG software on that web host and then export your content from here and import it into the new blog and then point the nameservers for your domain at the new web host. Figure an average monthly cost, all things considered between $10 and $25.

You have more responsibilities. You have to do all installations and upgrades, you have to do all backups and you have to do all troubleshooting. If something goes wrong you have to figure it out and fix it.

Backups are important, and make sure and back up everything including the MySQL database. Current backups can allow you to recover from a disaster reasonably quickly. No current backup = possibly losing everything.

Your theme will not transfer over. You will have to locate that theme either over at .ORG or somewhere online and then download and install it.
