I just purchased hosting from Blue Host and installed WordPress on blue host, but I just get directed to my wordpress.com dashboard.

    Could someone please help?

Will I login through bluehost or wordpress.org to make changes updates?

    How do I used wordpress.org?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you wanting to create a brand new self-hosted blog or move your existing blog over to Bluehost? If the latter, you can find an explanation of how to do that here:

    Moving to WordPress.org

Let me know if you have additional question on this.

    Here’s where I’m at:

    – Through wordpress.com, I changed the Primary domain from my purchased domain alongouway.com to alongourway.wordpress.com
    – Through BlueHost, I downloaded wordpress, and have it set to use domain purchased alongourway.com
    – I’ve set the Name Servers for alongourway.com to the bluehost servers.

I got excited when through BlueHost, under wordpress installs, I clicked Admin-Login and was brought to an fresh blog with the WordPress.org Dashboard (I was able to see plugins, jetpack, etc.) I thought it was good to go.

    – I installed the Import plugin then I went to Import, and imported my blog that I had exported (from wordpress.COM). After import the dashboard and everything switched back to wordpress.COM ..

What gives? What am I doing wrong?
Please don’t just direct me to another link, I’ve followed instructions but now I’m stuck.

    Please help, thanks! :)

Do I need to transfer my domain alongourway.com from wordpress to bluehost?
In Bluehost theres > Domains > Transfer

Is this a step I missed?

While you’re welcome to transfer your domain registration over to Bluehost, it’s not required, and as long as you’ve pointed it to the Bluehost name servers it should work fine.

To me, it looks like you’ve done everything correctly. The only thing I would suggest is to log in to your self-hosted WordPress admin and check under “Settings>General”. Make sure the “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” fields are set your http://alongourway.com.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, I’d say your best bet is to come back and add a ‘modlook’ tag to this thread. This will alert a Staff member, who should be able to help you more.

    Good luck!

    http://www.alongourway.com/ – loads to a WordPress.ORG install for me

To work on your new site – use the log-in below

    http://www.alongourway.com/wp-login.php

The dashboards look almost identical between a WordPress.ORG install and a WordPress.COM site

Don’t screw with the Settings >> General >> WordPress address unless you really know what you are doing – do the wrong thing and your blog gets sent into outer-space and is difficult to recover

For more help with your new site you should ask at
WordPress.ORG, they are the keepers of the software you are now using
