WordPress.org & Image Widgets

  • Unknown's avatar

I designed a new site to be hosted by WordPress.com. However, my service provider for my current site just let me know that they can install the WordPress software so that I can host my newly designed site there after all. However, I am concerned because I have heard that there is no “Image Widget” available for columns in sites hosted by an outside service provider. Can you please let me know how to get an Image Widget into a WordPress.org site that is hosted by a third party? Also, is there a way that I can export my pages from my WordPress.com site to my 3rd party site?

    Thanks!
    Erin

  • Hi Erin,

You can install, activate, and connect the Jetpack plugin to get many of the features of WordPress.com in your self-hosted blog, including the image widget (called “Image (Jetpack)” on a self-hosted site).

You can export your current site from the Tools->Export page within your site’s dashboard. Your self-hosted site will have an Tools->Import page for you too.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else. Cheers!
