wordpress.org riskier than wordpress.com?

I began my wordpress.com blog about a month ago and I love it. Now I am thinking, “What about WordPress.org?” I have seen the FAQ on both .com and .org but the question for me is: Would it be riskier for me, a beginner at WordPress, to skip on to WordPress.org? That fact that the software resides on my Desktop — would that make it more work for me? I know that the upsides are: more themes and the option of having Ads, but knowing the downsides right now is the trump issue.
What do you say?

Ok.. I just now found another article on it and have my answer. I will stick with WordPress.com for now.
