WordPress.org Switch

Hello! I currently have a blog via wordpress.com but I’m ready to make the move to wordpress.org! I have the premium upgrade plan for wordpress.com, if I switch to wordpress.org do I still have to pay for my wordpress.com account or will it just be cancelled? I purchased my domain from godaddy.com so what will happen with my domain if I switch? Also will I lose my media and older posts if I switch to wordpress.org? Thank you!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

As you will no longer use your Premium upgrade here at WordPress.com, you do not need to renew it when it expires.

You will want to ‘disconnect’ your domain mapping. Right now, it’s connecting your GoDaddy domain name with your WordPress.com site. When the .org site is ready to go live, you can cancel that mapping.

You can keep your domain at GoDaddy and map it to your new site’s servers. GoDaddy should have support documentation to help you with that process.

You will not lose older post and media if you export everything from WordPress.com and import it to your new site.

This guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org instance:
