wordpress.org to wordpress.com transfer issues

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve tried to import my wordpress.org hosted website onto my new wordpress.com blog,

It imported all the posts, but not all the pictures. It seems that part of the images have come across, and some haven’t. Only images from mid 2009 and newer have been copied across. 2005 -early 2009 are missing.

Even if an image is copied across, the wordpress.com website pictures are still linked to the old host.

Can support please look into this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Can somebody please tag/flag this thread for staff attention?

I would appreciate acknowledgement of receipt, or a message that this is now in the queue for support staff to look at, please?

    Hi there,

Sorry for the delay! We do not have as much coverage on weekends as we do during the week, so sometimes there is a bit of a wait in ticket response times around the weekend. Again, my apologies.

In regard to the issue with migrating the media from your WordPress.org site to your WordPress.com site; I am having one of our developers take a look and I will let you know as soon as I have any additional information!

That’s great, thanks. I thought this one ended up in the ‘too hard basket’, but I agree, I didn’t consider the weekend and that staff might not be working …

I’d like to get a response please?

    @innonational,
It’s three minutes to the New Year here, on the West Coast, US of A. I’m sure you know how that goes. Anyway, it seems a bit unusual for a mere export/import task to take this long to resolve. Have you tried export and importing the content a second time? I’ve no experience with WP.org websites, but I used to get intermittent failures on either the export or the import when moving content from one WordPress.com site to another.

Hi thanks for the feedback and happy new year. I’ve tried several times and get the same results each time.

Check back Monday. When you bump your threads like this, they go to the back of the line for help, as they appear “new” instead of old. Just wait, and do not bump threads.

Will do. But it’s 10 days now and zero helpful feedback, I thought by bumping it up it would get some renewed attention.

    Hiya,

I’m so sorry that this still hasn’t been resolved! I reached out again to our developers to get an update on what is going on with this issue and as soon as I have any information I will let you know.

    Again, sorry about that.

Very reluctant to post another question because I might end up at the bottom of the list again … but is there any feedback?

I wanted to convey the apologies from our developers for the delay. They have just finished the adjustments on your site and they have asked that you take a look to see if there are still any outstanding issues with it?

There was one file which we could not transfer over, it was a KMZ file which we don’t support here at WordPress.com. If you’d like to host it somewhere else such as Dropbox and then link to it then that might work, but it can’t be uploaded to our servers I’m afraid.

We again apologize for the delay and I hope everything is working for you now!
