WordPress.org vs. WordPress.com

I have a WordPress.org site and I was told I needed to sign up for WordPress.com to get Jetpack and now it shows that I have a WordPress.com domain and site, which is the same as my WordPress.org site. I do not want to have my domain showing as a WordPress.com site. How do I stop that so that I just have a WordPress.org site, which is what I originally wanted.

    thanks, Dan

I think you need the site to see the jetPack info –

Set your site here to Private and you will be the only one to see the site – also the site here should have no content and a different name so even if it is open to the internet it should not search at all

Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading >> Visible to only those I choose

Thanks, I really appreciate your help. I’ll try that.

Hopefully it will be easy to change the site name for WordPress.com so that there is no confusion/intermingling of the 2 sites.

All WordPress.COM sites have a name like “your-site.wordpress.com” unless you change the name with domain mapping – so I don’t think there will be much confusion – and if the site is Private search engines can’t see it at all –

Oh ok, thanks. I just checked/searched “Mustardseedmindset.wordpress.com” and it doesn’t exist so that is good since I just want it to appear through WordPress.org.

Since the Mustardseedmindset.Wordpress.com site above doesn’t exist, there was no option on WordPress.com to make anything private so that makes sense.

You were very helpful, thanks again.
