WordPress.tv Video Embeds Not Sized Properly In Mobile Sizes

    Hello,

I would like to report a problem with WordPress.tv Video Embeds (added to Blog Posts/Pages using the Copy WordPress.com Shortcode Option directly from the videos) where the WordPress.tv Video Embeds are not sized properly when viewing them in Mobile Sizes on Blog Posts/Pages; and this problem happens in many themes like Twenty Fourteen, Hemingway Rewritten, Goran, Edin, Motif, et cetera.

A screenshot from the Twenty Fourteen theme of the video Adding An “About Me” (Or Any Other Static) Page on my About Page on Firefox 33 on Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS 64-Bit:

Thanks for reporting this John Jr! I’m trying to recreate your steps so I can figure out the root cause, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how you found the shortcode for the video you embedded. Can you clue me in? :)

    Hello Shawna,

    You are welcome. :)

To get the Shortcode for WordPress.tv videos all you have to do is start playing the video, at the top left side of the video click the downard triangle symbol next to Share, and under Embed On A WordPress.com Blog click Copy Shortcode; et voila! ;)

I am using three different WordPress.tv video across my Contact page, About Page, and Archives page; and so you can use those as an examples if you want. ;)

    Thank you,
    -John Jr

Oh gosh. Thanks John Jr. I figured it was something simple like that… :)

    Looking into it now.

You are welcome Shawna :D , yeah, sometimes it is something simple but hidden like that. ;)

    Thank you :) ,

Okay. Good news! If you just hit play on the video, it will resize in the Customizer. It looks like the player doesn’t always resize when the browser window changes size, which is usually a non-issue since most people don’t change the size of their browser very often. :)

However, I have found a few themes that may actually not resize VideoPress videos. So I’m doing some testing on those and I’ll submit tickets to our developers when I’ve confirmed the issue.

Have a great night John Jr!

That is good news, thank you for explaining that, and for taking the time to test this problem for me Shawna; and good luck finding other themes that do not resize VideoPress videos properly, I will predict that the amount of themes with this problem is larger than some might think, but that is just a wild guess. :)

Thank you and good night Shawna :) ,
    -John Jr

I just finished up all of my testing and embeds work okay in all of our themes when the page is loaded at a mobile size. :)

Now that is a surprise, that is good to hear, thank you very much Shawna. :)
