Words don’t fit in my images

Thank you for your recommendations. Using columns and cover blocks seems to be doing the trick. If you don’t mind checking on my progress as I rebuild my ‘Galleries’ page, you will see that I am having trouble labeling my links. The words are broken up because they don’t fit correctly on my images. The words are too long or the columns too narrow. I have changed the fonts to subscript and changed the alignment to move to the left. What else can I do to make the words fit correctly?

There is no issue with WP. Once I also face the same issue with my website and then one of my friends recommend me to choose the best editing software for images. Then I start using Adobe Photoshop and edit and words are perfectly fitting in the image when I upload it on my website.

Are you talking about photoshopping the words into a picture and then pasting the “word picture” on top of your image?

  • Howdy @ricksr81

I’m not sure what the previous poster was recommending exactly, but I do have a question if that is OK.

I have visited your Gallery page at https://sugdenphotography.wordpress.com/home/galleries/ and I’m not seeing any broken up text there. Were you able to sort this out on your own, or did you need a hand still?

    Thanks for the additional info!

Yes, I was able to get it fixed. It took several steps. I moved the text alignment to the left; I used the custom sizing but the size wouldn’t shink below 10 pixels. That still wouldn’t shrink it down enough so I changed the font to one that was naturally smaller compared to the default font. All those steps together got the labels small enough to make them fit!

  • Thanks for those details.

Of course this will make regular text content on your site smaller as well, but if you mostly post photos, perhaps that doesn’t matter to you :)

What you’ve done is the only way to do this on the free plan in any event. On our Premium Plan and higher you can also use custom CSS code to resize only those specific links, while not affecting text on the rest of your site. I’m just mentioning that as an alternative in case you want to consider that at some point in the future.

Thank you for that input. Right now I am on the free plan because I don’t want to pay for a site that isn’t even built yet. After I am ready to launch, I will consider what plan is best for me and make any fine-tuning at that time. When that time comes, I am sure I will be reaching out to learn how to use custom CSS code.
