Work with one theme while another is active
-
I’m just getting started with WordPress and although I have designed about half a dozen pages, a menu, and a blog, I would like to make this theme active while still being able to test out some other themes.
Is there a way to do this?

Hi,
You may only have one theme activated on a site at any point in time. To test various themes, you may switch from one to another on a single site, or create as many test websites as you like. You could even create a different website for every theme.

musicdoc1,
That makes sense. Basically, my question was how do I create a “test website”?
-
dalefye – are you actually hosted on WordPress.com? I don’t see any sites at all on this account.
Or are you running the WordPress software on your own hosting?
-
running it on my own hosting account.
It is currently displayed as:
mydomain/wordpress/…
But I’ve been told that when I want to go live, I can change that in the General Settings section so that the Site Address does not include the /Wordpress/ in the path. Is that correct?

These forums are for folks hosted here on WordPress.com.
The support forum for self-hosted sites like yours are over at WordPress.org:
You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:

Good luck!
