workarounds for downloading photos from wp.com media library

    Hey there,

A partner uploaded files to a wp.com page; I had to transfer to wp.org, but some files are stuck in the media library in .com that I can’t access in .org. Sure, I could just link to the .com image URL, but honestly I like keeping my file strcuture tidy.

One workaround I came up with is entering the image’s URL directly and saving the photo, but it could only be saved in a .bmp not, not jpg. Will the image quality suffer if I try using the .bmp images on the new site?

    Thanks for any help!

  • Recent versions of the WordPress.org importer will automatically download your images and file attachments and import them to your new blog.

That’s great to know, but I did not fare so well sadly. My partner handled the xfer.

So can I safely take hte .bmp route?
