Working on a new theme without the actual CSS customization
-
Hi, I run a blog at http://petitecuisine.wordpress.com and would like to build a new design. The problem I have is that I use a custom CSS so while browsing new themes, I can’t really see what they would look likt WITHOUT my CSS customizations without risking damaging my actual design. How can I do to play safely with new designs without risking corruting mine ? Can I have a kind of sand box or beta version somewhere ? What would be your advice on this point ? Thanks a lot !!!!!

Hi there, sorry that this is confusing, this is on our list of things to do so that it’s easier to preview and switch themes. Right now, there is not a way to see a live preview of a different theme on your blog without custom CSS, if you have one enabled. I can suggest either browsing through the Theme Showcase, or setting up a private test blog (you can use Export and Import under the Tools menu to populate it with content) and experimenting with themes without custom CSS there. I hope this helps, and sorry that previewing things is not optimal for you at the moment!

Thanks a million Jenia for your quick and documented answer, this does help a lot. This blog has changed my life and it is greatly thanks to wordpress.com : it’s been 4 years and the service has been constantly excellent.
Thanks again and cheers from Paris !
