  I would like to build a new site using WordPress before connecting to my live site

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  You can sign up for Free on the WordPress site (https://wordpress.com/free/) using a .wordpress.com domain address.

  When you have finished building your site, you can connect it to the live site you already have by mapping it to WordPress.com.

  Please note that mapping is only available on the pro plan of WordPress.
