Working with GoDaddy

I have myself in a bit of a mess here. Our business domain name is registered with GoDaddy, and until today, our website was hosted by bulletlink. We were not happy with bulletlink and decided to switch to WordPress. I obviously didn’t handle things the right way, because when I cancelled my bulletlink account we lost our business email. Luckily, we have the same addresses registered with GoDaddy.

I had changed the nameservers at GoDaddy and entered the DNS info at WordPress, but nothing was working and we needed our email. GoDaddy helped me get our email working through their website, but now my domain is not working at wordpress. GoDaddy told me to get the IP address for my server space on WordPress and create a new A record at GoDaddy. I am lost. How do I find the IP address for my server space? Any help is appreciated.

WordPress.COM does not support fixed IP addresses – the current IP addresses are below – note the address for your blog will change based on servers load, normal maintenance etc. Use at least two IP addresses or things will fail sooner or later

    66.155.9.238
    66.155.11.238
    76.74.254.123
    192.0.81.250
    76.74.254.120
    192.0.80.250

Thank you. So do I need to create two of the A records at GoDaddy with two of these IP addresses?

did you read the instructions in the link above? The instructions make no reference to A records –

I have not worked with Godaddy but from the stream of folks through the forum I am suspicious of some of their tech support folks

  • You can either use nameservers and MX records as described here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/

Or you can use IP addresses to map your domain to WordPress.com and leave your email with your registrar.
