Working with imported content
-
I imported the xml file that I downloaded from this site: https://mlpp.pressbooks.pub/modernworldhistory/
It is a open-source textbook that I would like to adapt. But now that I have imported the file, I don’t know where the content in my site so that I can work with it.

Hey there, I took a look at the XML file there. It doesn’t seem to match any of our “known” formats for import.
I did a little more digging and found this, which would suggest Pressbooks needs quite a bit more server-side setup beyond WordPress itself to work properly:
https://pressbooks.org/blog/2016/10/15/why-we-removed-pressbooks-from-the-wordpress-plugin-repository/You need to be running your own network installation of WordPress, for example. Here are their setup steps:
https://pressbooks.org/user-docs/installation/Our free sites would not support this, and honestly I’m not even sure whether our Business plan supports network installations, as they can be quite tricky to maintain.
But if you don’t mind the technical challenge and you’re up for handling this DIY style, you might check out one of our recommended hosting partners here:
https://get.wp.comDoes that help?
You may also be able to convert the file to a regular WXR somehow, but I was not able to find steps for that.

Yes, thank you for checking on why it wasn’t working and how it might work. I really appreciate it!
