Working with wordpress.org instead of wordpress.com, help needed !!!
-
Hi !
I recently wrote to you because I did a mistake, I wanted to build my blog up onto wordpress. org instead of WordPress.com. You already refunded me with the purchase of my wordpress.com plan, but now, after i linked my domain and wordpress with siteground, it takes me in wordpress.com automatically instead of wordpress.org. Please can you help me understand why is that? My domain lespetitspapiersdeluice seems not anymore in use in wordpress.com, so how come I can not access it from wordpress.org? Hope this makes sense, thanks in advance for your help, I am kind of desperate here ! Best regards, LucieThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi lheureuxlucie, In WordPress.com your site name is appended to the front in what is called a subdomain, example: sitename.wordpress.com.
In WordPress.org you need to purchase your domain name and point the nameservers to your website host. Example: http://www.sitename.com
Many web hosting companies, including SiteGround, offer a free domain name with purchase of their hosting service. I would suggest you contact SiteGround support directly and see if they can help you resolve the issue.
Hopefully, that points you in the right direction. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask and I we be glad to help!
Thanks!

Hello lheureuxlucie,
If you’ve already bought the domain lespetitspapiersdeluice, and you’ve recently updated your domain name servers to point to siteground instead of WordPress, you may just have to wait a little bit for the DNS to propagate correctly. It can sometimes take several hours or more to have the website redirect correctly.
There a couple ways to try and speed it up, one of the easiest is either browsing to your website using incognito, resetting your browsers cache, or trying a separate computer.
Hope this helps!
