World of Pain to Transfer Domain to Bluehost
-
I am trying to transfer my domain to bluehost.com and I am having a world of pain doing so.
- I tried transferring the domain by requesting an authorization code. No code shows up at all even though I am being told by a message a code was sent.
- I figure my email address needs to be reset so I try to change my email address under the domain contact information.
- All of a sudden, nearly one hour later, I spammed by 20 emails delivering me my authorization code.
- I initiate the transfer to bluehost.com
- Suddenly I receive the following message: “The transfer of cpaontheway.com from WordPress.com to another registrar could not be completed for the following reason(s): Express written objection to the transfer from the Transfer Contact. (e.g. – email, fax, paper document or other processes by which the Transfer Contact has expressly and voluntarily objected through opt-in means). If you believe that this domain name does not fit the situation described above, click here for assistance.”
- clicking “here” sends me to a defunct wordpress.com site.
- I log on to wordpress and it sends me a notification I need to confirm my change in email or my domain will not be functional.
- I check both my emails and not a single confirmation in site.
What is going on here? Why is my transfer blocked and why cannot I receive emails from wordpress.com in a timely fashion or at all?

I have reviewed the logs for the domain and can see that the transfer was requested on 2023-05-30 17:16:26. Everything looks normal there, no red flags I can spot. I did go ahead and ask our domain team to also take a closer look in case I have missed something.
It can take up to 72 hours for a domain code to be released for a

.nl,.com.br, and.net.br, we need to request authorization codes directly from the domain registry. For.nl, codes are typically sent within a week. For.com.brand.net.br, they are sent within 72 hours.
