Worried about Copyright.

I do a periodic check for unauthorized use of my photos, and if I find someone using one without permission, I will call them out for stealing. That is what it is… photographers put a lot of time and effort into their craft. Just because the image may be on another site illegally, doesn’t make it free for the taking.

I agree but it makes me feel panicky to know that I may have used images I thought I had the right to use only to discover those who offered them up for use did not have the authority to do so. I thought that was what myzarathustra was saying in the op.
The problem is that some of the images I have used and want to use in the new site are from sites who themselves have not cited the source of the image.

That’s a real problem. A photo can make the rounds and it’s nearly impossible to track down the original creator. That’s why I watermark nearly all of my photos – @myzarathustra, a watermark or signature is something to look for when trying to determine if the photo is original to the site you’re visiting.
I would suggest that if you find a photo you like, and the site has comments enabled, or an email contact, just ask if you can use it with attribution.

No kidding – it’s a real problem and once blogger knows it’s a problem then doing something about it isn’t easy as they have usually created many posts and uploaded many images.
