Worried about Google Bots and Reduplication after Redirection
-
I currently have a blog on wordpress.com. I’m creating a new Web site that will be self-hosted and I have transferred all of my content from the wordpress.com blog to the new site.
I’m planning to redirect readers who will still be landing on the old blog to the new site. I’m assuming the content on the old blog will be deactivated in some way once the redirection is initiated. If this is so, can you please detail how that deactivation actually occurs and what the deactivation process entails?
The main concern is, while the wordpress.com content is deactivated,
is it still crawl-able from Google search bots? I am concerned about a potential penalty levied by Google due to reduplication of content on the blog and new site. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

After the redirect it operational you can set your wordpress.com blog visibility to private. To change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
