worst support site ever!

  • Unknown's avatar

I have spent the last hour creating a blog website for my grandaughter. I created her blog rockongirl with wordpress and I entered her email incorrectly. NOW I CAN’T SIGN IN CAN I TO GET SUPPORT! I looked everywhere but I had to sign up in order to get an answer. I eventually used my own wordpress site in order to post this in ORDER TO GET A RESPONSE. If I had any idea how hard this was going to be I would have suggested she used something else…….

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

and no I don’t need help with xactavent.wordpress.com. I need help with ROCKONGIRL but I can’t register with it because I got the email address wrong. Can someone fix it please. I need to change the email address to (email visible only to moderators and staff).

  • Unknown's avatar

Is this the blog you created? http://rockogirl.wordpress.com/?ref=spelling if it isn’t then please provide the URL starting with http:// for the blog you refer to.

  • Unknown's avatar

no the one I created was http://rockongirl.wordpress.com but I can’t go back and check. I wanted to create rockongirl with the email address for (email visible only to moderators and staff). But I can’t go back and check

Click this link and read the spelling error message > http://rockongirl.wordpress.com

  • Unknown's avatar

I believe you have two issues:
the spelling error in the URL
the wrong email address registered for the blog

  • Unknown's avatar

The address rockongirl.wordpress.com cannot be registered. That site is currently reserved but may be available in a couple days. But you can sign up and choose another one.

That is the error message that comes up. When I went onto the site to register rockongirl (after many other names I tried) it accepted it but I put the wrong email address. I put (email visible only to moderators and staff) instead of (email visible only to moderators and staff). please can you delete the rockongirl blog so I can re create it with the correct address,

  • Unknown's avatar

I definitely spelt it correctly. you can check it against the email address.
Rockogirl – this has a saying about “moi” next to it and I didn’t enter anything like that. So there is obviously someone using “rockogirl”

  • Unknown's avatar

Rockogirl – “life of Moi” is definitely not what I wrote nor what I registered. The “Rockongirl” which I registered is reserved because its waiting for me to activate the email thread which I won’t get because it went to the wrong email address.

Thanks for confirming the URL with the spelling error issue I pointed out above. There is no username account registered as yet for rockongirl. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/rockongirl That’s likely due to the wrong email address being entered. Until the username account is registered no blog can registered under that username account.

Please be patient while waiting for Staff to assist you knowing there are others who posted before you did and Staff wirk froward from the threads with the earliest date stamps to those with the most recent datestamps.

oops! I see typos above. (I’m visually challenged.) I apologize.

edit: “wirk froward” was meant to be “work forward”.

okay I am very confused. I registered rockongirl about an hour ago. It was available. I put the wrong email address in. But because of your inability to sort it out, I have created a mail address which is the same as the one I entered. So now how do I get it to resend the create link to the mail address I used for Rockongirl. Come on, I have now created a blog I don’t want to get an answer with an email address I didn’t want but I now have.

This is a peer support forum and I am a Volunteer who has been answering question here for over 7 years. None of us Volunteers have to answer any thread we do not wish to answer. Take note of the fact that I did answer more than once and determined that you require Staff help to sort this out. I have previously informed you that I tagged this thread for Staff attention so all that’s required now is your patience.

  • Unknown's avatar

Has anyone found my blog Rockongirl and sent me the link to the correct mail address please.

  • Unknown's avatar

Okay. I got your response about not answering my request because you are a volunteer and not a staff member. However, had there not been a complete block on any contact whatsoever to the support department without first having to create a blog, it wouldn’t have been such a problem. As the managing editor of one of the biggest print newspapers in South Africa, I often find that when companies make a service available on the internet for purchase, they then block any contact whatsoever for either their existing or future clients when it comes to questions and answers. We ask for the kindness of companies who promote their products on the internet, that they have a place where a telephone number or email address is posted to answer questions and queries for those people who are not yet a member or had a problem signing up. I use Survey Monkey as an example. They have a phone number and email on their home page and they answer promptly. I promote their products everywhere. Using the fact that you have too many customers to have that detail on your front page, is not encouraging to those who might wish to become a customer. I do not know that you are a volunteer, I simply see you as a support person. I don’t know that you can’t help me or that Staff is someone at the company. Perhaps a note to introduce yourself to an irate customer is a good start. Many of us who start blogging, are new to the internet and to internet companies and don’t know how it all works.

The average response time in an internet forum is between 14 and 15 hours. As you have seen, the response time here from knowledgeable volunteers is far less. As Timethief said in her first response to you, she has flagged this thread for staff attention, so please be patient and wait while they get back to you.

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi its been around 15 hours since I had a response on this. Please advise if the email has been changed to go to (email visible only to moderators and staff) so that we can activate rockongirl. Thank you.

And since you posted here yet again – you moved yourself to the back end of the line, since the staff work these issues from oldest to newest

And since you posted here yet again – you moved yourself to the back end of the line,

That’s useful to know, I thought they worked from the date that the post was created, not the latest response from the author.

I suppose it makes sense though as someone in dialogue could still be working towards a solution with the volunteers
