WOT Verification

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I am new to wordpress, and would like my blog to be verified by WOT. I have tried all the different ways but none of them work. I have tried uploading the html file but there appears to be an error. I tried to put the meta tag on the site’s homepage, but have no idea how to do it. Could someone help me please?

I have searched on youtube and it tells me to add a plug in, can’t seem to find that either, as the WordPress version is different from mine.

I want to upload my blog on my facebook page, without WOT verification it has a question mark and my header image of my blog does not show.

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

At this time, we don’t have an option to verify with WOT. I’ll add this as a feature request.

However, that’s not causing your issue with Facebook. When I share your site on Facebook, it looks just fine, except it has no thumbnail image. You can fix that by uploading a Blog Icon/Picture in Settings->General here:
    https://daodyssey.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php

If that doesn’t help, can you please screenshot what you’re seeing on Facebook so I can take a look? Here are instructions for how to make a screenshot: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

You can upload it to your blog’s Media Library and I can look at it there.

    Hi

Thanks for your response. I tried uploading an thumbnail image and it still appears like that on facebook. I think it looks like that on mine because I use WOT.

I’ve added a screenshot to my media library. It would be great if you could have a look at it for me.

    Best

  • Hi there – Yes, that question mark is a WOT thing, I believe. Here’s how your site looks on my Facebook page:

The favicon still isn’t displaying as a thumbnail because the image that you uploaded is too small. Facebook wants it to be larger than 200x200px.

Sure, I have contacted WOT and they said they have verified the website for me.

I see, WordPress will not allow me to upload a larger thumbnail. How would I go about doing it so the thumbnail would be visible?

  • Hi there – The thumbnail is now showing up for me when I share your site on Facebook, and Facebook’s debugger is no longer complaining about the size, so I think it just needed a little time to recognize the image. :)

Awesome! Thanks so much for your help :)

Sorry to bother you again, when I load my main page it’s fine. But when I load a specific post the image does not come up. Is there a reason for this?

    Thanks

  • Hi there – It’s strange because when I share a single post, it does not display an image, but then when I enter the post URL in the Facebook debugger here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

It then displays the image. Entering a URL in that debugger clears Facebook’s cache, but you shouldn’t have to do this each time. We are sending the correct image to Facebook, however. Unfortunately, we don’t have control over how/whether they display it.

As a workaround for now, you can clear the cache of a post using the debugger before posting it and hopefully Facebook will soon start displaying your favicon without your having to check it each time.
