Would-be subscriber didn't get/ignored 'confirm follow' email and now it doesn't

  I have a few people who registered to subscribe to our blog and either didn’t get or ignored the email from wordpress to ‘Confirm Follow’. Susequently they’ve tried to register their emails again but although it says ‘Success – you re now subscribed’ they still don’t get the confirm follow email, so they can’t confirm their subscription. In some cases if they went on to the Manage Subscriptions site, they could ‘reset’ their subscribtion by following and unfollowing the site, but that hasn’t worked in every case. We seem to have some situations where a confirmation email is no longer being delivered for some reason, so they are unable to confirm their request to follow the blog. Is it a case of once the confirmation message has been sent, another one can never be sent even though they never confirmed their subscription? This is only happening to some users, there is no comment thread I can see such as their email provider. Some of them are gmail accounts.

  Hi there,

  For those people who have Gmail accounts, ask them to check the Social and Updates folders in the inbox, as well as the Spam folder. Gmail has some automatic filters that can prevent our emails from appearing in the inbox.

  I take it there are subscribers who don’t have their own WordPress.com accounts, correct? If they have their own accounts, ask them to reply in this thread and I can take a look if anything else is wrong, but otherwise, if you can also give me a few email addresses that are not receiving the emails, I can check if they are being sent correctly.

  Type each email address on its own line and it will be automatically hidden from public view, but I’ll be able to see them so I can check for any problems.

  Hi – thank you. 2 of the email addresses that are not able to subscribe are:

  …and yes they say they have checked spam folders, and these people don’t have WordPress accounts.

  Thanks for the email addresses.

  Both those people are subscribed to your old WordPress.com site, https://leconfieldsingers.com/, while they have pending subscriptions for the current site at http://www.leconfieldsingers.co.uk/

  Ask them to go to https://subscribe.wordpress.com. They’ll need to enter their emails, and then they’ll each receive a link to their subscription settings page. Ask them to click on Pending there. If they confirm the site that’s showing there they should start receiving emails for new posts on it.
