Would like to have a comments box only for certain users (authors)

    Not for the whole site, but for a staff page, I would like to have a comments box that only those signed in as author (or above [editor, admin]) could see and use.

    1. Is there a way to only allow author (and above) users to view a single webpage?

    2. Is there a comments plugin for WP that restricts permissions to post to authors (and above) only?

    Sorry but that site you are referring to is not hosted WordPress.COM. Our support docs do not apply to any sites that are not hosted by WordPress.COM and we do not provide support for them. You are posting to the wrong support forum to get help with your WordPress.ORG issue. We cannot help you here.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
