Would like to have email at my wordpress domain – how set this up?
-
Used to be hosted at GoDaddy. They had automatic email as part of package for domain registration. How can I arrange to have email at our WordPress account, same as we had before using only WordPress?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
We don’t currently offer full email hosting, however, you can setup forwarding so that (email visible only to moderators and staff) are forwarded to your personal email account. We have a full guide on how to go about setting this up here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/
If you require full email hosting then you can connect that up to your domain by following this guide:
Hope that helps out! Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any extra questions on either of those options.

Thanks a million. Thanks to your help am now all set up and going smoothly with the new email forwarding arrangement.
Once set up it was easy to expand to more addresses for forwarding.
Truly appreciate the help!

I’m so glad to hear you’re all set with email forwarding, Ric. :) If you have any other questions, we’ll be right here.

Thanks again, Siobhyb!
Incidentally, you’d know the answer to this query, am sure:
Is anyone at WP working on the many bugs in WordPress Editor (found in the non techie’s “Visual Tab” within the Dashboard’s editor) – – – which is where I work, since I don’t know HTML?
In other words, the old WYSIWYG them doesn’t really always work there, and many things I put together come out significantly different when I click on the “Update” button and check the preview.
Is the editor a unique application within each of your numerous “Themes” or is it the same basic program across all of them? I ask, because thought it might be just because we’re using an “older” Theme : “Twenty Twelve.”
It’s really frustrating, but thank God for that Preview button!
And even when I’d get them centered in the Editor, they’d end up jumping to the left margin as soon as I click the Update button, etc.
I finally gave up trying to type in the names, and, instead, used MS Word to type up a name “label”, then copied it into a JPG, then pasted that JPG into the place I wanted above each listing, as its title, so to speak. On the very top (1st) listing, I somehow was able to simply type in the subject’s title, but that’s the only place I was able to do this. It made the task of assembling the page’s listings far more difficult that had I been able to simply type in a title to each new subject, or business’ name. When you get a moment, would love your insight into this dilemma.
Thanks again,

Oops. Funny thing suddenly and inexplicably happened to this page I mentioned above. After going back and forth between the Visual tab and the Preview buttons, in fact after I was all done and wasn’t able to center even all the jpg titles – out of nowhere, most of them suddenly jumped to the centering place I’d wanted, although a few remained at the left margin.

Hi Ric.
From the post you linked to, I found that the content aligning to the left has an alignment set to ‘Justify.’ If you’re not familiar, you can find a screenshot showing how ‘Justify’ compares with the other options for alignment in this guide:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment
I’m not too sure how that content came to be justified over centred, but you can fix it by either recopying it to the Visual editor and then choosing the ‘Center’ alignment icon or, alternatively, you can switch to the Text/HTML editor and replace and instance you see the word ‘Justify’ with ‘Center.’ I promise editing code in the Text/HTML editor isn’t as scary as it could seem. :)
If you have any extra questions around that, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Thanks again! Really appreciate the additional insights, but I’m now even more “scared” of the HTML code. Went into that Text tab and tried to get things more consistent, but only succeeded in really scrambling up my ealier work using just the Visual tab to edit. After trying to fix the post, I quit. It will have to do as is.
For what it’s worth, I strongly prefer the older Editor that the new “Beep, beep, boop” (?) gizmo, which is far too small a window in which to work.
Cheers,

Hi Ric.
For what it’s worth, I strongly prefer the older Editor that the new “Beep, beep, boop” (?) gizmo, which is far too small a window in which to work.
Would you be able to create a screenshot of your view of the editor for me? The window shouldn’t be too small but there’s a bug where the editor only loads to half its height in some cases. I’m wondering whether this is happening for you. If you could create a screenshot and upload it to your Media Library, I could confirm this:
Thanks!

What you describe as the “bug” is precisely what I was experiencing just yesterday when I went back into our site to do some editing.
However, when I went into different stories to edit today, it seems you’ve fixed the bug, since each time I tried to edit, it opened your ‘Beep, beep, boop’ to a full sized window, so could actually work in it OK.
Tried it at least six different places, and the partial opening bug never happened. If it is does happen again, I’ll capture a screen shot and upload it to our media library for you and send you another alert note.
Thanks again for all the help!
But, since you offered ;-)
Have another question re our site: I’m putting headlines for most recent news item posts right on our home/front page and linking them to the posts, so the viewer needs only click on the headline link to jump to the full story.
But – – – here’s my issue: Some of the story/posts are under one of the listed categories along our right side bar menu, and may be several story/posts down from the top, being older ones. So, when the viewer sees a headline on the font page and clicks on it, they often get confused because they might see another (a more recent story/post to that category) story and think I’ve goofed up somehow. If they scroll down the linked page, then they’ll find the headlined post for which they’re looking, but they often don’t seem to know they should do this.
So-Question is: Is there a way to put in a “Headline” link that will land them, each time, right on that particular story for which they’ve clicked the related headline – thereby not requiring them to scroll down the whole series ’til they find it?
Thanks,
ric

Siobhan – here’s an example of what I meant in the last post:
When one goes to the headline on our front page of “Out of WWII Aviation History Comes the Reborn Mosquito,” and clicks it, they end up seeing another or ‘wrong’ story, the one on the F-35 “Lightning II.” The desired story is one more down the page on which they land – and without scrolling down, they will miss it.

Hi Ric.
Looking at the example you gave, I can see that you’re linked to the category page for ‘aviation-news’ on that text:
http://firstaerosquadron.com/category/aviation-news/
All posts with the ‘aviation-news’ category will show up on that page. Instead, you should be linking to the individual post’s URL:
When you visit a specific post, the URL for it can be copied and pasted from your browser’s address bar straight into your editor.
To change the URL for each of your headlines, click the specific text you wish to edit in the page’s editor, choose the ‘Insert/edit link’ icon in the toolbar, and then change the URL field accordingly. In case it’s helpful, we have a bit more information on creating links here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/links/#creating-links
Hope that helps! Let me know if any of those steps needs further clarification.

Hi Siobhan,
Read you instructions over several times, but first went into editor on the Brit Mosquito headline on our first/front page, and removed the old URL and inserted the one you gave above. Of course it worked perfectly, just as you predicted. And that’s just what we needed, so thank you once again for the concise tutelage!
But, alas, wasn’t able to figure out precisely where and how you obtained that exact URL for the Mosquito Story. So fooled around and found that the story’s page headline is an active link itself, and clicking it brought up the same URL you suggested I use. My other attempts at finding it thru the editor came up with entirely different URLs, so obviously I wasn’t doing it right. But think I now know the trick.
However, when I followed your instructions to go to the page in question (Mosquito in this instance), and opened the editor (this time the new “Beep, beep – – – “), lo and behold, it again displayed that buggy view of being only partially opened. Now – how can I send you that Screen Shot? Obviously it won’t fit into this dialog box.
It’s already pretty late in the UK, so guess I’d better save that “shot” so can send it when you tell me how, later.
Thanks again for all the help!
Cheers,

Hi Ric.
I’m glad my last reply helped you out!
But, alas, wasn’t able to figure out precisely where and how you obtained that exact URL for the Mosquito Story.
I was able to get the URL for the post by copying and pasting it directly from the browser’s address bar. If you’re using Firefox, you’ll see the address bar highlighted, with the words “URL will appear here.” inputted, in the following screenshot:
It again displayed that buggy view of being only partially opened. Now – how can I send you that Screen Shot? Obviously it won’t fit into this dialog box.
Thanks for taking that screenshot! You can upload it to your Media Library and I’ll be able to see it from there. :) We have a guide for uploading photos to your Media Library here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/media-add-new/
Let me know when you’ve added the screenshot and I’ll add it to our report back to the developers.

Hi Siobhan,
Fortunately already OK with those other two procedures by now, but thanks.
Just managed to upload that screen shot to the library on our site, so take a look and share it with your developers.
Thanks again and have a nice day – what’s left of it!

Thanks so much for uploading that sceenshot, Ric! I’ve added it to our report for the developers, who will look into the fix.

Greetings, again, Siobhan,
Question?
Do you have any idea how I might be able to somehow change our LOCAL BUSINESS SUPPORTER” page:
<http://firstaerosquadron.com/category/local-business-supporters/>
so that it doesn’t sroll and scroll, and then even require clicking on an another link to see what’s below the first scroll list? Say something like a sort of photo album page where things are spread out across the page, rather than everything vertically? The list of “Supporters” will continue to grow, and will eventually become almost uweildly, if you know what I mean.
Thanks – – – when you get a moment.

Hi Ric.
You can disable infinite scroll via Settings > Reading in WP Admin:
https://firstaerosquadron.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php
If you uncheck the box next to ‘To infinity and beyond’ on that page and then ‘Save Changes,’ you’ll notice that posts no longer automatically appear as you scroll down pages. Instead, you’ll be given a link to view previous posts after scrolling to the bottom of the page.
While on Settings > Reading, you’ll also see that you can control the number of posts that ‘Blog pages show at most.’
Hope that helps out! :)
