Would like to move my blog from Typepad, but have over 135GB of data
-
Greetings – I am in the process of exporting and converting my Typepad export to WXR format and would like to continue in WordPress.com. One issue that jumps out…among many is that I have over 117,000 images which would take up over 125-135GB. Does WordPress.com accommodate that? And is there additional cost?
Thanks!

Hi there, the WPcom Business plan has 50GB with the ability to purchase more storage. https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/business-plan/
Also, I’ve gone ahead and flagged your forum thread for staff. Perhaps they can suggest something as well.

Hello, and thank you for reaching out!
As @justjennifer mentioned, the WordPress.com Business plan has 50GB of storage, with the ability to purchase more storage. Some other options you could consider include:
- Delete any images that you don’t need before uploading your media to WordPress.com
- Optimize your images before uploading them to WordPress.com. We have an Optimize your images guide that may help.
- Host the images on an external storage provider, and then link them on your WordPress.com site. If you’re on a plugin-enabled plan, this can be done via a media offloader plugin. You’ll want to make sure you install a plugin that is well-rated and recently updated, and use a reputable service such as Cloudflare R2 or Amazon S3.
- Upload videos to VideoPress instead of storing them in your media library; you can learn how to do that here.
Let us know if we can help further!
