  Hello, I want to post something on my blog as a post not a page without informing email and wordpress followers.

  Is it at all possible?

  Alternatively is there a way to add tags to pages?

  (I want one text to be tagged (hence the need for it to be published as a post) but also to appear in main menu in a two-column format.)

  Hi there,

  The only way for you to not have your followers notified about certain posts is for you to turn your blog to entirely Private:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  And then once you’ve published your posts you can turn it public again.

  To answer your other question, there is no way to add tags to your pages. That is something which is a posts-only trait.

  Wow! Thank you. It helps me enormously :)

  Just one more little question. Is it just my impression or google does not show pages? I want to add a page informing on my business – if google does not see pages then I am in trouble :(

  Google will indeed show pages, though just like anything which Google does, it can take several weeks for them to find new pages.

  It will also help if you have added your entire site to Google’s Webmaster Tools to make sure that it is as friendly to their search engines as possible.

  Thank you. I visited the page and it is written in the lingo I do not understand. It seems it wants me to send a html code to my server OR add a meta tag to my main page…? o_0 (sorry I am translating now so could get it all wrong.)
  Does it actually mean anything? If it does how do I proceed? Or perhaps there is an easier way to achieve it…?

  They do require you to verify that your site is in fact owned by you, however to do this is quite easy in our system. You can do so by following the instructions which we’ve included right here:
