would like to switch to wp.com, but….
-
I’d like to switch to WordPress.com (from my current, worthless hosting company), but you don’t seem to allow any plug-ins. Here’s what I can’t find in your widgets, templates, etc.:
1. I need a calendar for gigs. I’m a performing musician. Do I have to get an outside service and point to that?
2. I need more than just twitter and a facebook page for social media. Since you don’t allow plug-ins, how can I get all my SM on the front page without just creating a static page?
3. I’ve tried dozens of templates on your site and none of them will adhere to my “summary” setting checked in settings for “For each article in a feed, show”. What’s up with that and how do I overcome it?
Thanks.
Stan

1. You could use a Google Calendar: http://en.support.wordpress.com/google-calendar/
2. I’m not sure what you mean by that exactly. Do you mean you need to display posts from other social media services?
3. That settings is just for your RSS feed and email subscriptions, not the blog itself, but you can manually create excepts by using the More tag: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
