Would using own domain = poorer SEO?

  I had a wordpress.com blog that did pretty good SEO rather quickly. I put that down to having the .wordpress.com after my blog title. So would dropping the .wordpress.com and upgrading to my own domain bring me poorer SEO?

  When you change the URL, you start over again from zero as far as Technorati is concerned, so yes, temporarily. Within four months or so you’ll make that up again, though. The same is NOT true if you actually move off Wp.com.
