WP 2.8 and Flash Uploader on Mac: still a big issue

    Hi,
    me and a lot of mac users (try to google and you’ll see) are going crazy trying to make flash uploader works fine:
    using latest WP release, no downgrade it to 2.7, clear cache, download latest Flash player plugin, no sorry remove flash 10, restart, download this, and this, and this and downgrade to Flash 9, restart, clear cache every 3 minutes holding breath and jumping on one foot, modify .htaccess chmod swfupload, clear cache, restart….and do you know what’s funny? on windows machine it works perfecly!
    oh god
    WE ARE USING MOST INTUITIVE OS AND CMS WORLD EVER FOR A REASON OR NOT??

    i’ ve done all this things i wrote above, and still i can’t SEE flash uploader button on WP interface….can you figure out?

    i’m very disappointed guys, i’d pay for a solution if it’ll be usefull
    anybody there?

    after one night and one day spent to find the answer, here it is:

    it’s Mac user issue due to intercation between hosting server’s ModSecurity and WP User Agent configuration (not more in media.php as i can see in 2.8.x)
    BUT if you activate developer toolbar in Safari (preferences>advanced>show developer toolbar)
    you can change you user agent in the relative menu and
    IF YOU PUT THERE A WIN USER AGENT FLASH UPLOADER STILL APPEAR AND WORKS SMOOTH!
    this is a little workaround that works for every my Mac machines
    BEFORE downgrade Flash Player and writing code somewhere try this little tric.

    That solution is not relevant to WordPress.com.

    I use a Mac exclusively, and the Flash uploader regularly. So do many of the core developers and WordPress.com staff. There are no current issues we’re aware of.
