WP account linked to closed email account

The URL I need help with is this one: https://historyoftheancients.wordpress.com/
I cannot log in because I forgot the password. The recovery link, though, is being sent to an email account that is closed, so I cannot access it. I also cannot change the email account because I can’t log in. Unfortunately, this is an older WP account. I did not set up 2-factor ID, it’s a free account, and I no longer have the activation code, so I cannot “prove” that it is indeed my account. I do recall several of the older (now nonfunctional) passwords that I have used for this account in the past.
The account is still active, because I can successfully access it through search engines. However, I want to update it, and I can’t until I can log in.
I am going around in circles! What can I do????? Please and thanks for any help you can give!

I don’t know what happened, but yesterday an account recovery email for the affected account showed up in one of my active emails. I was able to change the password and access the account.
I don’t know how it happened, but it did. So, problem is resolved.
Thanks for your reply, and I am going to institute a two-factor ID so that this won’t happen in the future.

Glad to hear you were able to get back into your account @ancientsue! Adding two-step authentication will be a big help in securing your WordPress.com login.
Make sure you generate and print out your backup codes as that will be the way you can regain access to your account if you lose access to your authenticator app: https://wordpress.com/support/security/two-step-authentication/#backup-codes
