    Hi!
I have had 2 blogs With wordpress for some years.
Now I have started With making blogs With my students in Spanish, but I experience that you have changed it, the posibility to manage the blog, administrating it. The chois ‘WP Admin, f.ex. is not there.
When I want to put in some links, I can easily do it on my Board on my own blogs.
To test it out, I have created a new blog, and I must say that it has changed a lot – to the WORSE!
I loose the desire to og on, and I Wonder if we can og on using Our blogs in the classroom.
    I need some help….
    Best wishes, Kari Viken.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Good morning, Kari.

The good news is that it is very easy to access the old dashboard, even if you have started a new blog! Once your students have created their first blog (created their usernames and the blog itself), they can log in to the old WP-Admin by adding their actual blog name in the area where it says “studentblogname” and then SAVING that link–

    http://studentblogname.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

Essentially, if you replace “studentblogname” with their ACTUAL blog name, they will be able to log in through the old WordPress.com WP-Admin.

So if I were your student, I would replace the bolded text with:

    http://sierraecho89.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

If you were your student, you would log in with:

    http://kariviken.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

They will have to log in on WordPress.com first before they will be able to access their own dashboard, but it should be fairly easy.

I hope that helps! As a fellow educator, I think it’s wonderful that you’re using WordPress.com to further your students’ learning. =)

    Hi!

    Thank you for answering.
But I did not quite understand how to do it.
As my students made their blogs with as ordinary persons, not as students.
I have tried now on my testblog, but can not manage, but probably becuse I did not understand it…..

    Best wishes Kari Viken

Hi Kari! Let me try again. =)

    A. Is “kariviken.wordpress.com” the blog you would like to use to access the old wp-admin dashboard?

If that is the blog you would like to use with the old wp-admin dashboard, please click the following link, then save or bookmark it for future use:

    http://kariviken.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

If that is not the Blog you want to use to access the old WP-Admin dashboard, please post a link to that blog so that I can provide you with the link.

    B. Let me break this down into a step-by-step process for you and your students to follow.

    1. Go to http://www.wordpress.com. Log in to WordPress.com. Click on “My Sites” and then click on “Domains.”

    2. Find the name of your blog’s URL. Click here for a photo that shows where to find this name. The circled text is what you need.

    3. Delete the bolded text below and replace it with the name that you found in step two:

    http://boldedtextbelow.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    4. Click on the URL search bar and delete the http://www.wordpress.com URL, then replace it with the link you created above. Here is a picture of the URL search bar.

So for example, if you wanted to reach your kariviken blog’s WP-Admin dashboard, you would type in http://kariviken.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

If I wanted to reach mine, I would type in:
    http://sierraecho89.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    5. You will be taken to a page that looks like this: (click here). This is your WP-Admin dashboard.

    6. Manage your blog. =)

    Does that help?

    Hi!

The 2 testblogs I want to try it on, is:

    https://karivikentest.wordpress.com/
    https://oddvartest.wordpress.com/

My “old” blogs are working fine.

    Kari

    Hi again! =)

Make sure you are logged in as the user who created the account you want to access. Copy and paste the following links:

    https://oddvartest.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    https://karivikentest.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

If you see a page that looks like this (click here), it means you have successfully navigated to your WP-Admin dashboard. Congratulations!

If you see a page that looks like this (click here), it means you are logged in as a different user and need to log out at http://www.WordPress.com, then Log In under the different username that owns that blog. If you do that, then click the link, it should take you to the correct page.

    Does that make sense? =)

    Silly me!

If you get the error page, all you have to do is click “Log Out” on that page (click here to see an example); it will then take you to a log in page, and then you’ll be all fixed up.

    I hope that helps!

    Hi!
    Thank you!
I managed, but could have done the same with clicking the “Portfolio”.

The diference – from the “old” blog, is that “WP Admin” is visible in the menu at the left. And I can just click on that, goes faster.

Many of the Themes do not show the “login”-buttom.
I have used “iTheme2” on my old ones, but it does not exist (?) /show up any more. How could I easily find a theme with this buttom?

Many of the Themes do not show the “login”-buttom

Sorry for jumping in here… WordPressdotcom removed the Meta Widget (which contained a log-in link) about a month ago. You can log in from the top banner of any WordPressdotcom page like the Forums, Support, etc.

Also, after you’re logged in, the link to WP Admin in the New Dash sidebar does not appear for newer sites.

As mentioned above, the fastest way to the WP Admin Dashboard in both cases is to add wp-admin to the end of your site address and bookmark that.

JustJennifer, no apologies necessary! Thank you for the information. =) I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Kari, the easiest way to find themes is through the theme showcase (click here for a link to this in the WP-Admin panel). You can scroll down and browse thousands of beautiful themes just by looking, or if you’re looking for a particular theme by name, you can search for a theme by title where it says, “Search Themes”.

    Have a wonderful day!
